 CERT—Community Emergency

            Response Team

The Community Emergency Response Team concept was developed and implemented by the Los Angeles City Fire Department (LAFD) in 1985. The program trains citizens to safely help themselves, their family and their neighbors. SEE CERT OVERVIEW

The Sun City Center Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) was established in 1995. The trained resident-volunteers are intended to complement professional Fire and Police organizations in disaster situations where the normal rescue and medical services are overwhelmed. CERT training direction is provided by Hillsborough County Fire Rescue (HCFR).
