Field Day 2009 ! I operated from the home station this year as the local clubs couldn't find volunteers to organize the event. But this gave me the chance to try out the home station emergency operating gear. Imagine my surprise when I discovered my TS-2000 wouldn't run off the golf cart battery 12-volt system! Instead I used the reliable old FT-897 as 1E-WCF and made 30 or so low-power contacts on 20M SSB & PSK31 once the bands opened on Saturday night. Not bad for attic antennas and golf cart power! Thanks to all the stations who dug me out of the pileups! |
